What is MeeGo

MeeGo is an open source operating system based on Linux OS and supported by the Linux Foundation. MeeGo is a combination of Intel’s previous operating system “Moblin” and Nokia’s smart phone operating system “Maemo” which is known to us through N900 smart phones.
Meego is programmed with C++ and based on Monolithic Linux Kernel.

MeeGo can be used in entry level laptops, netbooks, phones, tablets and various embedded devices as such which puts MeeGo in competition directly with Google’s “Android” operating system and Microsoft’s “Windows Phone 7” (WP7). The reason for this is even though Nokia is a phone manufacturer and naturally MeeGo operating system will be used on their devices due to the MeeGo being open source makes it available for other hand held devices manufacturers which puts Meego directly in competition. Even though “WP7” is not open source it is however available for other manufacturers to use as partners of Microsoft with some payment. On the other hand Apple’s iOS is not open source and it is not available for other manufacturers to use.
